10 – GECKO MORIA

Gecko Moria is a former Shichibukai who has fought against the Yonko Kaido when he was a Rookie. Moria lost the battle which lasted three days. Kaido was responsible for the death of his old crew.
Moria spent ten years creating his zombie army to get his revenge against Kaido.

9 – SENGOKU

Sengoku the Buddha was the Fleet Admiral of the Marines before the timeskip, succeeding Kong and preceding Akainu.
During the war at Marineford, Sengoku fought against Blackbeard, he transformed into his Buddha form and delivered a powerful shockwave to the Blackbeard Pirates, sending the whole crew flying.

8 – PORTGAS D. ACE

Ace’s main enemy was Marshall D. Teach, whom he chose to hunt down for killing Thatch. However, as Shanks stated, Ace was strong and young, but the fact that he was appointed as Whitebeard’s Second Division commander worried Shanks due to “that trust and reputation” getting in the way. Shanks concluded that Ace was not ready to face Blackbeard, which was confirmed later when Ace confronted him and his crew. At first, Blackbeard wanted him to join to hunt down Luffy, but Ace declined his offer and the two fought against each other. In the end, Ace was defeated and turned in to the Marines, thus granting Blackbeard the status of Shichibukai.

7 – CROCODILE

Crocodile is one of the longest running and most noteworthy primary adversaries of the whole series.
When Crocodile was a still a Rookie, he challenged Whitebeard to a fight and later did the same in the Marineford War, however, Corcodile was beaten both times.

6 – BLACKBEARD

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates and one of the 4 Emperors. He is also the first and only person in history known to have the powers of two Devil Fruits.
More than twelve years before the current storyline, Blackbeard and Shanks fought in a battle. During the battle, Blackbeard gave Shanks the three scars by his eyes.

5 – SHANKS

Shanks is the captain of the Red Hair Pirates and a member of the Yonko.
During his meeting with Whitebeard, Shanks noted that the scars over his left eye were currently aching and revealed that Blackbeard inflicted them.
After finishing their sake, Shanks and Whitebeard drew their weapons and clashed, resulting in the skies above them splitting in two.
When Kaido tried to stop Whitebeard from going to Marineford, Shanks intercepted him in order to allow the other Yonko to rescue Ace. It is not known what happened during their encounter, but Shanks arrived at Marineford unharmed.

4 – DRACULE MIHAWK

Mihawk became famous even before the start of the Great Age of Pirates 24 years ago. He challenged increasingly powerful opponents until no one could challenge him, thus earning the title of “World’s Greatest Swordsman”.
Mihawk once saw a strong rival in Shanks. Their battles were said to shake the whole of the Grand Line and Mihawk often sought Shanks out for duels. After Shanks lost his arm twelve years ago, Mihawk ceased seeking him out for duels.

3 – AKAINU

During the war at Marineford, Akainu engaged Whitebeard in combat, trying to prevent him from causing any more significant damage to Marineford with his Gura Gura no Mi powers. After he provoked and killed the second division commander Ace, Whitebeard brutally injured Akainu. During the ensuing conflict, Akainu burned off a portion of Whitebeard’s head.

2 – EUSTASS KID

Kaido defeated Kid during their encounter at Kid’s base and threw him in a jail cell. Later, Kaido used Kid as an example when illustrating the difference in power between him and the Supernovas. Kaido recognizes Kid’s strength and wishes to turn him into his subordinate. He is trying to achieve that by holding him prisoner, torturing him, and trying to break his spirit. However, Kid only holds resentment towards Kaido and swore revenge against him.
Kid also confirmed that he lost his arm in an encounter with the Red Hair Pirates.

1 – MONKEY D. LUFFY

Kaido and Luffy finally met in person after the former destroyed Oden Castle while some of Luffy’s friends were still there. Luffy attacked Kaido out of anger and he was further enraged after hearing that Kaido attacked Tama. Luffy attempted to defeat Kaido but his attempt ended in failure as Kaido rendered Luffy unconscious with a single blow. To add insult to injury, Kaido mocked the defeated Luffy’s statement of being Pirate King.
