A Conqueror’s Haki moment becomes much more significant now!

So I was watching part of the Punk Hazard arc because something came to mind. The Luffy vs Monét fight is very controversial, due to the fact that Luffy should have easily defeated Monét if he was really strong enough to defeat the big shots.

I believe Oda specifically put this fight in here only for the ending. When Monét holds Luffy and tries to comfort him and get him to go to sleep from the cold and snow, almost like a dream. To give up and just go to sleep so he doesn’t have to deal with the cold.

Luffy almost goes to sleep but his willpower, Conqueror’s Haki, and his drive to protect his friend snap him out of it before it’s too late.

Now when have we also seen something like this being mentioned in the story? The story that Luffy said he heard from the guy at the bar about not sleeping on snow islands because they will die.

This was also referenced when Buggy and Shanks were arguing about Blackbeard and the reason he doesn’t sleep, and arguing about what’s colder the Arctic or Antarctic. If this is really true and Blackbeard grew up how entire life in an environment like this, his willpower must be insane.

Just thinking about how strong Luffy is and how much it took for him to break out of Monét’s trap makes me wonder what insane amount of willpower Blackbeard must have to have lived his entire life or childhood like this. Fighting something like this every day, not falling asleep or giving into the warmth of death, so that you no longer have to suffer in the cold.

This is also based on the fact that when Oda drew Blackbeard as a child it was in a snow country.
