Netflix have confirmed that live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has been renewed for a second season on the streaming service. Since the first season explored the East Blue Saga, the second season should cover the events of the Arabasta Saga wich introduces one of the most beloved characters of the entire series: Portgas D. Ace.

Portgas D. Ace, born as Gol D. Ace, was the biological son of the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and Portgas D. Rouge, as well as the sworn older brother of Luffy and Sabo. Ace was adopted by Monkey D. Garp, as had been requested by Roger before his execution. Ace was captain of the Spade Pirates before being recruited into the Whitebeard Pirates and becoming its 2nd division commander. He ate the Mera Mera no Mi, giving him the power to transform into and manipulate flames.

It seems that some fans have discovered the identity of the possible interpreter of Portgas D. Ace. Many are assuming that the young actor Emery Kelly will be playing the part of Luffy’s older brother. Besides having Ace as his profile picture, Kelly is also followed by Inaki Godoy and Matt Owens, the young actor who plays Luffy and One Piece’s showrunner.

This is enough to make many fans think that the production has already chosen him to play the character and that, therefore, we will see him perhaps only for a small part already in the second season of the Netflix series.
