As we have seen in recent chapters, Kaido is already using Awakening against Luffy.
I was watching carefully this week to see if Kaido does it again, and he did. He used Awakening again. And we see just how easily Kaido controls his devil fruit. To him these transformations are instantaneous.
After attacking Luffy, he was in process of transforming back to hybrid – as you can see, his eyebrows and nose are awakened-like, but his teeth are normal – and in next shot, he’s full hybrid.

It seems to me that Kaido is using Awakening, which gives you incredible speed and strength, only for certain attacks, as Awakening draws out your stamina, and Kaido has been fighting non stop.
