Every time something unexpected, unorthodox, or just surprising happens, are we gonna keep going in denial and saying that it is some form of illusion Oda played on us, even though in 900 chapters and 20 years of publishing the manga he has showed us absolutely 0 indicators of doing this?
First it was the panel of Luffy getting stabbed by Katakuri that apparently was Luffy suddenly being able to “see the future”. Now it is Big Mom somehow ….hallucinating(?) a fight that’s happening pretty far away with details like Snack facing Judge, Mont-dor cheering and the Strawhat flag floating in the water.
Did people also thought that the destruction of Merry was Ussop’s nightmare?
That Ace’s death was Whitebeard having delusions from old age or something?
20 years of One Piece, 900 chapters, I think all of us have some pretty good idea about ODA’s writing style. Do people really think that he could trick his readers to generate some cheap interest for the next chapter? The only time i can think of Oda showing us a “fake” panel was Luffy predicting Mihawk would cut off his arms if he went through with his attack and that was just 1 small panel in the middle of the chapter.
Oda’s just not that type of writer. What you saw in the latest chapter truly happened.
It’s not even that farfetched to think that the Sunny was damaged after taking a cannon hit from a colossal ship that heavily damaged it.
