Did Kaido get his immortality with the Ope Ope no Mi from someone important to X Drake?
X Drake, along with Luffy and the others is a member of the youthful “Worst Generation” of Pirates that stirred up a great deal of commotion around the world. His father, Barrels, used to be a Marine Officer and Drake admired this, dreaming of becoming a great Marine just like him one day. However, who knows what happened, but his father suddenly turned into a pirate and became a terrible man who would physically abuse even his own son. Drake, who still believed in his past father, followed him around was aged 19 at this time (13 and a half years ago). Though that’s a bit too old to be calling him a boy, he probably seemed to look a lot younger while he was weakened with the fear of his father. Later he fatefully crossed paths with Law, and the Marines soon took custody of him, leading Drake to become a Marine. The thing is, as if resigning himself to fate, after Drake made his way all the way up to becoming a Rear Admiral in the Marines, he ended up leaving the navy and becoming a pirate himself!!
Just what happened? What’s he thinking?
I’m interested in seeing the future of Drake, who has also made an appearance in a cover series!!
From the SBS on the volume 78 we learn that Drake was Diez Barrels’ son and get some additional information as to their relationship where Drake followed him despite being abused!
We also learn that Drake wanted to be a Marine and yet we also know he left the marines for reasons Oda did not want to reveal.
So why did Drake run away instead of staying to help his father? Despite being abused for years he still firmly believed in his father otherwise he would have left the crew long ago.
Since he is the strongest in the crew he could have left at any time.
So we can assume that something happened to Drake in the time he spent on the island.
And what does Drake have against Kaido? From what we have until this point in time the Barrels Pirates had not nothing to do with Kaido.
This is also the reason why Drake left the Marines, he wanted to hunt Kaido down.
Who is this Legendary Doctor and how did Barrels obtain the Ope Ope no Mi? And how long ago did this Doctor live?
Barrels Pirate Crew was not strong so it would be extremely hard for them to take down someone who had the Ope Ope no Mi.
So it’s likely that they just happened to stumble upon it, but how did they know that this was the Ope Ope no Mi?
They might have known about the Ope Ope no Mi by reading about it, just like Sanji, but these are low tier pirates so that’s a stretch.
Meaning they probably knew about the user of the Ope Ope no Mi and of his passing, which means that he was most likely on the same island.
So what am i getting at? Well what caused Drake to change was his meeting with the Legendary Doctor who had the Ope Ope no Mi similarly to how Corazon saved Law so did this Legendary Doctor save Drake. However Kaido made his appearance and using Drake as an hostage forced the doctor to perform the immortality surgery and die.
So will Drake join the Aalliance to take Kaido down? And if he does then there’s also the possibility of him knowing the key to take Kaido down since he knows how the Legendary Doctor performed the surgery on Kaido.
