Also in this chapter another surprise is that Luffy finally managed to land a hit to Katakuri.
What if I tell you that these 2 are connected? Yup It is not coincidence that after the reveal of Katakuri’s teeth, Luffy finally able to land a hit.
But before that let’s talk more about Katakuri. In the latest chapter 883, it is revealed that Katakuri is actually the opposite of everything Brulee said to him (aside from being the strongest). So why did Katakuri decided to hide his real character and cover his teeth?
Is it because he is embarrassed that people will laugh at him. Well imo, there’s a deeper meaning to it and it will connect us to his major weakness.
Now let’s go for the main theory, straight to the point.
I think Katakuri experienced a trauma. Who caused it? Well of course Big Mom. If you noticed, Katakuri’s s situation is similar to Pudding and when Pudding is still a child, Big Mom is disgusted by Pudding’s third eye so she asked Pudding to cover it. I think it is the same for Katakuri, Big Mom is also disgusted by Katakuri’s teeth but unlike Pudding, I think BM did something terrible to Katakuri because of his teeth. What is it? Big Mom tried to rip Katakuri’s mouth. That’s why Katakuri gets angry when someone commented about “mouth being ripped apart”.
(Hmm.. wait maybe those stitches are for the wounds he gets after BM tried to rip his mouth apart)So that caused Katakuri’s trauma, and decided to cover his teeth after that. Another thing, I think BM also hated his attitude when he was a child that’s why Katakuri also decided to change or hide it.
So what is Katakuri’s weakness?
His weakness is that every time someone tries to attack him near his mouth, he loses his concentration because of the trauma. He remembers the time when BM tried to rip his mouth apart. It slowed his reaction that’s why he couldn’t dodge the attack and Luffy managed to land a hit against him. If you noticed, Luffy hit him near his mouth.
Also in Luffy’s last attack using Kong Gun, he also targeted his mouth. Although Katakuri managed to block it because it so obvious.

About Katakuri’s intangibility even being hit by haki
CoO + Excellent control over his mochi, these are what Katakuri needs to make it possible. He needs CoO to predict where an attack will land and with his excellent control over his mochi, he can manipulate his main body by transforming it into mochi and hide it somewhere where it wouldn’t be hit by an attack. So by disrupting his CoO, Katakuri wouldn’t be able to predict where an attack will hit hence giving a chance for Luffy to land an attack.
