Oden’s Nitoryu vs Zoro’s Santoryu

In chapter 961, we saw how the 18 years old Kozuki Oden defeated the Mountain God / Giant Wild Boar using 2-sword fighting style Togen Shirataki (literally meaning “Earhtly Paradise Waterfall”).

Oden hardens his swords with Busoshoku Haki and delivers a powerful diagonal slash with each one of them at the same time.

Oden’s figting style has a great resemblance to Zoro’s. Just Oden using 2 swords while Zoro uses 3 swords.

Zoro’s Nitoryu Iai: Rashomon

  • A dual sword drawing technique so powerful that it can split large obstacles in half.
  • Zoro draws his swords, and sheathes them quickly, able to split two train carriages in half.

Oden flexes both biceps that creates sudden bulge in the muscles building up energy for a powerful swing.

Zoro’s Ni Gorilla (Santoryu)

  • Literally meaning “Two Gorillas”: Zoro flexes his biceps, in preparation for Nigori-zake, as a follow-up for the above technique. As above, the pun is “two-strong strength” and gorilla. This was first seen being used against Kaku.

See the resemblance? The only difference is Zoro using another sword in his mouth if he uses Santoryu.

And now Oden’s Sword: ENMA is now passed down to Zoro (given by Hiyori as replacement to Shusui).

And it all goes down to Zoro’s master. We all know where did Zoro learn to use swords: Koshiro.

Does Koshiro have any connection with Oden?
