The Two Ideologies that clashed during the Void Century

I recently read the latest chapter of One Piece and it reminded me of an idea I’ve had a couple of months ago. In chapter 1115 Vegapunk mentioned “two ideologies” that clashed during the Void Century.

I am very convinced that those two ideologies have been hidden in plain sight since the very beginning. My assumption is that those two ideologies could be represented by the two perpendicular lines that divide the world into its 4 oceans. The Grand Line and the Red Line!

The literal “Red Line” is an insurmountable enourmous wall that stops you, while the blue line we know as the “Grand Line” is a call to adventure.

Essentially, you can break those ideologies down into: Do you want to stay where you are or do you want to go?

As mentioned in chapter 1115, traversal in One Piece is incredibly dangerous and troublesome and that could very well be by design. This is just my head canon but I don’t think it is farfetched to assume that both Imu and Joyboy have used the Ancient Weapons to create the two lines, which seem to be unnatural formations. The Red Line is where Mary Geoise is located on top of and Joyboy’s treasure is hidden somewhere in the Grand Line.

Two ideologies represented by the colors blue and red. Do these colors occur in some other important context? There is a panel / moment in the anime featuring Shanks, the Straw Hat and also Roger’s hat that made me think a lot about certain design elements. Look closely at those two feathers which are part of Roger’s hat.

In both, the colored manga and the anime, Roger’s hat features two feathers with different colors. One is blue and the other red. Could this be an indication that Roger wanted both ideologies to coexist?

Okay. And now take a look at Blackbeard’s current design in the colored manga and the anime. His hat features two red feathers. Could this mean that he rejects Joyboy’s ideology and embraces the one that the 20 Kingdoms fought for during the Void Century? How much does he know about history?

I don’t know what all of this hints at but I’m certain that we will know the answer soon.

What do you think?
