So I had this theory for a while since the chapter that showed Rayleigh telling Luffy that some people in the New World have honed their haki so much that they are able to see the future.
Before I begin explaining myself I will tell my theory: I believe Rayleigh has fought Katakuri in the past when he was in Roger’s crew and Katakuri is the person Rayleigh met who was able to see the future making him mention that to Luffy.
Now let’s check the facts. First of all, Katakuri is 48 years old. This means that when Roger was still active Katakuri has already been a young adult and possibly already possessed the ability to see the future. Katakuri is the strongest of the Big Mom Pirates aside from Big Mom herself while Rayleigh had the same status in Roger’s crew, so if the Big Mom Pirates would fight the Roger Pirates in the past, it would most likely mean that Katakuri would be the one to challenge Rayleigh as a fellow 2nd strongest in the crew.
Now how do we know that these 2 crews clashed? We know that Roger managed to read one of the Poneglyphs in Big Mom’s possession. This was most likely during Roger’s last voyage to find Raftel. Roger most likely knew that Big Mom had a Road Poneglyph and attacked her in order to get his hands on it.
Rayleigh fighting Katakuri back in that Era, while Luffy is fighting him in this Era would make a lot of implications in terms of character development and “passing the torch to the next generation”, which brings me to the conclusion that next chapters will show us a few fragments of Roger Pirates interaction with Big Mom Pirates.
