Mother Flame is related to Nika – Luffy’s Ultimate Power

The Mother Flame is an obvious parallel to atomic energy, and Vegapunk is an obvious parallel to Albert Einstein, who came to later regret his role in bringing about the atomic bomb. Similarly, Vegapunk invented (or rediscovered) the Mother Flame to be a near-infinite energy source, based on his research into the Void Century, but he considers it one of his two great sins because the World Government used it instead as a bomb that could incinerate an entire island.

Based on the Gorosei’s need to preserve Egghead on the basis that they don’t have another Mother Flame, I suspect that they had a Mother Flame of their own that Vegapunk gave them, but the incineration of Lulusia exhausted it.

It seems likely then that after his broadcast has completed and the World Government’s secrets have been exposed, Vegapunk has his Mother Flame set to self-destruct. He likely knew that the World Government could not afford to destroy Egghead as long as the Mother Flame was housed there, but once it’s too late for them to stop it, he plans to take that power out of their hands anyhow so there can’t be another Lulusia.

Perhaps as the Mother Flame’s name suggests, its power source is related to the Sun, the Earth’s main ultimate source of energy. And if so, perhaps Luffy as Nika has the ability to generate it with his Devil Fruit (perhaps Vegapunk even discovered it via his Devil Fruit research). That might, in fact, be the trick to injuring the Gorosei. So perhaps this arc ends with Vegapunk’s Mother Flame being destroyed, but Warcury being knocked out with a Nika Mother-Flame-imbued sun punch, alerting the Gorosei to the fact that Luffy has the power of the Mother Flame within him, and adding to the urgency of capturing him.
